Modern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training Review

Editor Rating:

5 stars

$99 – $199

NOTE: Modern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training is no longer for sale but we would keep this review page live for your reference. In the meantime, you might want to take a look at similar products like The Beta Switch or Fat Burning Furnace.

Pros

  • Amazing and enjoyable fitness and training program “for women, by women” (i.e. the creators of the program are women) that deals with the intricacies of women’s unique fitness goals (i.e. fit and sexy but not bulky) and training issues (i.e. different body structure and chemistry from that of men’s).
  • Promotes women transformation and empowerment on both the “outside” physical appearance as well as the “inside” confidence and healthy body image.
  • Accomplished authors who are co-founders of the “Girls Gone Strong” movement. They are “living proof” authors as both Molly and Alli are strong (341lbs. deadlift and 285lbs sumo deadlift, respectively) but managed to keep their femininity and sexiness intact.
  • Glaring testimonials from industry professionals, impressive acknowledgements from trusted media, and inspiring transformations from successful students.
  • Actually made fitness and strength training fun and exciting for women by putting a little more “heart”, “community”, and “you’re not alone” underlying themes into the program. This is way different from how men’s fitness products are presented – simply revolving around pumping iron, surpassing lifting records, and who has the biggest biceps.
  • Beautiful presentation and professional production. The videos are captured in a well-built set; unlike other products which simply show videos of the author (or one of the students) during one of his/her workout sessions.
  • Works on a simple training environment and doesn’t require a full gym membership.
  • Applicable for women of any fitness level. Beginners would appreciate the well-explained training concepts, the glossary of fitness terms, and the “take you by the hand” approach while intermediate fitness goers are accommodated by a gradual and intense training progression.
  • Very polite and accommodating response from our inquiry which we received within 24 hours.

Cons

  • Majority of the program is accessed via online videos so a decent internet connection is imperative.
  • The main nutrition manual is sold on a separate and more expensive package.
  • Some additional investment on equipments (i.e. kettlebell, dumbbell, and resistance bands) may be necessary.

Modern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training Basic Product Details

Modern Woman's Guide to Strength Training Product LineupModern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training is the definitive guide to women fitness and empowerment. It’s a training program created to deal with women’s unique (that is, relative to men) fitness goals, issues, and concerns by two women who have actually achieved those goals, overcame those issues, and experienced those concerns. This is a fitness program “for women, by women” and it doesn’t really get any better than that as far as women’s fitness is concerned.

The program is created, taught, and demoed by fitness icons Molly Galbraith and Alli McKee. Both of them are co-founders of the “Girls Gone Strong” movement – a community for women which promotes a modern fitness perspective for women’s health and empowerment. Molly, Alli, and the “Girls Gone Strong” community definitely come to mind when you say “girl power.”

Individually, Molly and Alli have their respective achievements and impressive credentials.

On one hand, Molly found and runs a premiere training facility for women, has a long experience in the area of fitness training and coaching women, and has competed in professional fitness competitions.

Alli, on the other hand, is equally credentialed. Aside from competing in professional fitness competitions herself, she also modeled and wrote for the fitness industry’s most popular media platforms like Oxygen Magazine and Women’s Health Magazine.

Together, they form a terrific tandem which serves as a solid and trustworthy foundation for the credibility of this program.

What’s Inside Modern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training

Speaking of the program, you’ll start off with the “Getting Started” section which will teach you how to go through this entire program. It will walk you through which manuals to go first and which videos you need to watch.

The program officially starts with the “Strength Training Manual” section and walks you through basic training and fitness terms (also includes a glossary which other programs surprisingly miss), fitness concepts (like warm up, progression, and recovery), and an FAQ portion.

Once you’re familiarized with women’s fitness concepts and practices, it’s time to create your weekly workout schedule using a combination of training (provided by the “Training Program” manual) and conditioning (provided by the “Conditioning” manual). The workout schedule you come up with determines how often you train each week and what exercises and workouts you perform for each session; all of which are based on your current fitness level and unique fitness goals and needs.

This whole process of creating your own program is supported and explained in detail by Molly and Alli via the supporting videos. Each and every workout and exercise mentioned in the program likewise have accompanying video demonstrations.

The chances of getting lost in this program are really slim to none since Molly and Alli really took the time to create a “take you by the hand” approach that leaves no stone unturned.

Our Modern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training Verdict

There’s an unjustified stigma that surrounds women and strength training. There’s this unwarranted belief that strength training is a practice reserved only for men; that women who engage in strength training do so by compromising their feminine grace. Modern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training clears the air and proves that strength training and women empowerment can be achieved while maintaining your femininity and sexiness. On top of that, the product achieves this objective with the same finesse and grace. A very complete and brilliant fitness product for women that deserves nothing less than a perfect 5 out of 5 stars rating.

Modern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training’s strongest point is that it truly understands women and the whole program revolves around that central theme. The training programs designed, equipments used, and exercises performed are all paced and tailor-fitted for women. The video presentation and design choices also appeal to the feminine eye. And most importantly, Molly and Ally’s training approach have that underlying “girl power” and “community bonding” theme going on. This is way different from what the other fitness programs (mostly male-centric) flooding the market are serving up; making Modern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training a welcome and much-needed addition into the fitness industry.

On the flip side, we do frown upon the decision to separate the nutrition component into a different, more expensive package. That is, the most basic package doesn’t contain the nutrition manual. We always believed that the journey towards good health and fitness involves the combination of both proper training and healthy nutrition. Leaving the nutrition component out of the basic package renders those who bought that package with only one leg to stand on, so to speak. The good news is that the upgrade price (to the package which includes the nutrition manual) is not that expensive.

In the end, money is a small price to pay for overwhelming value. For this product, the easy-to-follow training program, the informative video resources, the expertise and empathy of the authors/trainers, as well as the caring community ready to support you on your path towards the “best you” comprises majority of that value; value that can certainly help a lot of women.
The program may be simple, it may not be as technical, and it might not be that flashy; but substance trumps style all the time, and Modern Woman’s Guide to Strength Training is definitely a training program for women that is packed with a lot of substance.
