Metabolic Mayhem is a weight loss program designed for busy people (i.e. the typical working adult) who have no time to keep an exercise and dieting schedule. The program utilizes a combination of nutritious dieting and macro-interval training in order to help you burn unwanted body fat, maintain and build muscle, and improve flexibility.
Benjamin “Ben” Teal is the author of Metabolic Mayhem. His background includes being a former athlete, an economist from Yale, a business process expert, and a certified metabolic trainer. Ben isn’t really “born and raised” in the fitness industry like other fitness experts. Rather, he’s just an ordinary guy who went through his own personal failures and triumphs with weight loss.
Additionally, Ben is also the creator of the Middle Management Method—a fitness system that helps individuals lose weight based on business principles. He also writes for and runs several fitness related blogs and websites.
What’s Inside Metabolic Mayhem
The whole Metabolic Mayhem program is separated into different components. There’s an introduction which discusses the main philosophy behind the program. There’s a section that serves as the scaffolding for the program and ties the nutritional components and the training components together. There’s a separate Nutritional Manual and a separate Training Manual which provides detailed outlines of meal plans and exercise routines, respectively.
The meat of the program, however, is arguably the Training Manual. With this program, you can expect to undergo a quick but challenging exercise program that will help you shed fat fast, provided that you stick to the program guidelines. Basically, this exercise program is divided into eight components, five of them being required, and the other three components being optional.
The five required components include Metabolic Moves, exercises that use at least one of the three largest muscle groups; Metabolic Muscle, the core of the entire training program which comprises of supersets with minimal rest between exercises; Metabolic Shred Circuits, stand-alone workouts that use resistance training to mimic cardio movements; Metabolic Intervals, variations on interval training methods that are high intensity; and Active Rest, simple activities that take advantage of the body’s afterburn effect.
The three optional components include Morning Metabolic Motivators, activities that initially spike your growth hormone for up to 24 hours; Metabolic Minutes, moves that can basically be done anywhere and can be done often (i.e. if you want to sneak in a short fitness routine here and there); and Shape Circuits, mini-circuits that target the body’s small but noticeable muscles.
The Nutrition Manual as well as the other components also contains as much detail, however it would be impractical to cover them all in this review. We also don’t want to spoil anything for you.

Metabolic Mayhem is one quick and convenient weight loss program that leaves you with very little room for excuses not to follow through. The program is designed with compactness and mobility in mind. However, there are some factors that made us determine that this program is not for everyone. Therefore, we give this product a neutral rating of 3 out of 5 stars.
Metabolic Mayhem is like the “pocket size” version of intense weight loss programs in a sense that it’s meant to be quick but effective. The meal plans are simple and quick to prepare while the exercises don’t take a lot of time out of your busy schedule. This program really addresses the “busyness” of the typical working adult.
However, one minor problem you may find with the Metabolic Mayhem program is the need for additional purchases. The program may be cheap, but you’ll need access to equipment (either you buy them or go for gym membership) for most of the exercises while the ingredients for the meal plans are a bit expensive (i.e. can’t escape that, healthy foods are expensive). This goes for most weight loss programs though so this fact shouldn’t be a deal breaker.
Ultimately, the main thing that makes us believe that this program is not for everyone is the male-centric nature of the program. Although the program is advertised as applicable to both men and women, the training portion of the program involves exercises which you would normally see body builders do (especially the Metabolic Muscle section mentioned above).
If you’re a guy, then you don’t have to deal with this issue. If you are a girl who is aiming for that fit and sculpted look, by all means go ahead with this program. However, if you are a lady who desires to lose weight but also wants to keep her feminine look, then the muscle building and sculpting nature of this program may be a bit too much for you.
Overall, Metabolic Mayhem is a decent weight loss program. It’s up to you to decide if it’s the best fit for you depending on your specific fitness goals and circumstances.
