Pros
- If you are starting to realize that your habits, not your diet or weight loss program, is keeping you from losing weight, the tons of “weight loss hacks” and lifestyle habits presented in this program may help you stick better to whatever diet you are currently trying.
- A great supplementary material to support any diet or fitness program you are currently doing.
- Transparency via citing his references shows a lot of good faith on the author’s part.
- The program is organized fairly well.
- Aesthetically pleasing and well formatted product.
- The chapter titles and some terminologies used are witty.
- Our inquiry was handled within 24 hours by a capable customer support representative.
Cons
- The program is very wordy. In fact, only 2 images were used throughout the whole program (plus another for the cover). Even the bonus recipe book doesn’t have pictures.
- A bit thin on actionable steps. Most of the program is made up of concepts and mind twisting materials.
- Technical and a bit philosophical.
- Doesn’t have actual meal plans or exercise routines to follow.
- The inquiry we sent to their support team was never responded to.

Anything Goes Diet Basic Product Details
Anything Goes Diet is a weight loss diet program that allows you to eat anything you want (thus the name Anything Goes) as long as you stay within the guidelines presented in the program. The bulk of the program also contains “weight loss hacks” (i.e. lifestyle habits that can contribute to weight loss) like unlearning habitual eating, having a weight loss support team around you, distracted eating, and other weight loss strategies that may seem irrelevant, but actually helps in their own little way.
Anything Goes Diet is designed by John Barban. John is a bit of a celebrity in the male body building and fitness field, being the author of the Adonis Golden Ratio program (a great workout program for men) and its female counterpart the Venus Factor. He has been around the weight loss and fitness industry for a long while now, starting off with fitness-related degrees (Bachelors and Masters Degree in Human Biology and Nutrition), teaching Exercise Physiology in the University of Florida, working at top supplement companies, training amateur and professional sports teams, and the list just goes on and on. For a complete background (and an entertaining read on logical fallacies) on John, visit John Barban’s official bio page.

What’s Inside Anything Goes Diet
Moving on to the program itself, Anything Goes Diet’s weight loss principles revolve around 2 key areas. First is that you can eat anything you want (that is, any combination of foods), as long as you hit the minimum micronutrient (vitamins and minerals) and macronutrient (protein, fat, carbohydrate) targets. The second is that you can eat anything you want, and as long as you don’t go pass the amount of calories computed by the AGD calorie calculator (online access software provided when you buy the program), you would still lose weight.
The program is not organized in a step-by-step action plan; instead it’s presented as a list of weight loss principles that can range from generally known public opinion to highly controversial and mind blowing. An open mind is really required to find value in this product, especially if you have been conditioned to expect step-by-step exercise routines or weekly meal plans normally seen in other weight loss programs.
There are too many weight loss principles provided in Anything Goes Diet to discuss in this review. So as not to give much away (and to avoid being sued for essentially giving out the contents of the program), we’ll just share some of the fascinating principles to pique your interest and help you decide if this program is for you or not.
There is a chapter called “It’s All Good” which states John’s principle that there is no such thing as “bad” food. If your mind is starting to jump into the conversation we ask you to hold your horses a bit and let us put more context into that statement. John proposes that there are no “bad” foods, nor are there “good” foods. The better thought process is to think that all foods have a place in the weight loss structure. John then goes on and discusses how to use this principle to eat anything you want and still lose weight. Very philosophical, right?
Another principle is having a weight loss team, presented in the chapter called “The Roster.” It’s about picking a support team that would hold you accountable for your weight loss goals. It goes beyond calling your friends and declaring your goals. John teaches you which type of people you need to include in your team (which may or may not include your closest friends and family) and what exactly would you ask them to do to keep you accountable.
These are just a few of the sample content you’ll find inside the program. There are a lot more “weight loss hacks” and diet facts that all tie into the central idea of Anything Goes Diet.

Our Anything Goes Diet Verdict
Similar Products with Better Features and Offers:
Anything Goes Diet is not the type of diet plan or exercise program that most people are probably used to. It doesn’t feature weekly meal plans or reps-sets charts; instead, it gives you weight loss lifestyle hacks and diet principles that serve as great supplementary knowledge to your current weight loss program. With that in mind, we give Anything Goes Diet a 3 out of 5 stars rating.
There are a lot of good things to point out with Anything Goes Diet. For starters, it looks professionally made. That is, the content is organized and the presentation is beautiful. You can also be sure that editing took place because there are hardly any grammatical or formatting errors present.
Of course, the content is also interesting. The main diet principles, along with John’s take on other weight loss topics, would make you question some longstanding diet beliefs fed to us by popular media. If it doesn’t make you change your habits, at the very least it would get you thinking.
However, the knock on this product is that it offers little concrete actionable steps. You get a lot of detailed explanation about weight loss principles but thin on what to do about them. As such, we believe that Anything Goes Diet is a great supplement to any other diet or weight loss program. But as a standalone product, you’ll end up working out your brain a lot but left with only a vague idea on what to do with your body.
This product really demands you to have an open mind. There are a lot of things in there that you might not agree with, others that you might not think is worth putting in a weight loss program, and others which you might not find important. Regardless of how you use this product, chances are you would pick up something you have never realized before.
